And Everything In-Between

And Everything In-Between

I happen to know Jake Thiede, and that's pretty awesome. What's also incredible is how his music continuously moves me, or drives me to reevaluate the connection between art-music and all-music.

My personal music collection is a rotation of R&B, Electronic, Americana, Classical, Rock, and Singer/Songwriter. So, when I hear And Everything In-Between, I feel like I'm right at home with some of my favorite genres.

The level of "Live" in this performance is also outstanding. By that, I mean to say that Thiede's work is designed to be performed in front of a live audience. In an age where live performances are often weak mixdowns of studio tracks, it's refreshing to hear music in person like this.

The most notable feature of this work is that a computer is programed to listen to the performer and respond by flashing a series of colors on a projector screen respective to the intensity of the sound. The greater the amplitude, the more brilliant the color.

The whole piece is really fun to hear and I found myself totally immersed in the editing process. Krisztina is flawless in her interpretation and execution of Jake's piece, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to capture and edit this video. Since this is the last of the five works that I filmed for Krisztina's Flute and Light Project, I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to watch these pieces. Your support is invaluable and I couldn't do this without you.
